AYODELE Makinwa has expressed his satisfaction after his Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS) FC of Ilorin on Tuesday night qualified for the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 4 final as the defeated host, Gombe United 4-5 on penalties.
The Spanish La Liga training coach told NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com after the game at the Pantami Stadium that: The victory was fantastic for us, despite the my team coming from a pre-season camp, we have not gel as a team, as we have couple of new players that we have injected into the team.
"It was also a keenly contested game and a hard fought victory for ABS FC even as I don't want to take anything away from our opponent, Gombe United.
"The home team made it difficult for us in the first half but in the second half, the game was balanced, we were also unlucky not to have won the game in the closing minutes. By and large, it was a good game.
"I also want to give kudos to the ladies who were the assistant referees, they did a perfect job. This is the kind of officiating I expect to see when the season kicks-off.
The victory means a lot to us as it gives us the confidence going into the new season."
Effiom Bassey's last penalty kick dashed the hopes of the Savannah Scorpions players and indeed that of their fans who in their thousands had shown tremendous support towards cheering them on in a pack full Pantami Stadium in Gombe State.
The Ilorin based team will Wednesday night know if they would battle either Kastina United or Remo Stars in the final as both team lock horns in another night game.
