SUPER Eagles and Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi has insisted the the players still believe in their Chelsea boss despite rumours Jose Mourinho is losing the support of a squad.
In the media glare, Mourinho seems to have lost the plot and his behaviour at times has been bizarre.
He did himself no favours over the weekend after the defeat to
Liverpool, and his ‘interview’ on BT Sport was quite frankly embarrassing.
There have been stories today that he didn’t even speak to his players after the latest setback. All hearsay, of course, but no smoke without fire.
One thing we do know is that Mourinho, mentally, is not in a good place right now. Rattled by media scrutiny more than a poor run of results.
One TV reporter made a good point when Jose cut short another
interview as he said ‘we are not used to seeing you like this’.
The Chelsea manager has always been a media favourite; always
good for a quote; a quality one-liner; a cheery smile. Not anymore.
But whilst most of the national papers are claiming Mourinho
has ‘lost the dressing room’ (as well as the plot), Jon Obi Mikel insists the players are still 100 per cent behind the gaffer.
“We are right behind the manager,” the midfielder said on the
club’s website. “There’s no doubt about it. In training we work very hard. If anyone can turn this around, we definitely think he’s the one. Last year we were champions.
“José knows this club more than any other manager. He’s the most successful manager in the club’s history.
“I definitely think that, if anything is wrong, if anything can be fixed, he is the one. There’s no-one out there that is going to come in and fix what’s going on. If you tell the team that we are not giving 100 per cent then there is the doubt, but we are giving 100 per cent, we are playing for the manager, we are right behind him.”
