Amuneke listed among failed bargain buys

VICTORIOUS Golden Eaglets Head Coach, Emmanuel Amuneke has been listed among Barcelona's failed bargain buys.
The Tunisia 1994 AFCON winner joined the Catalan giants in 1996 scoring one goal in 19 apperances during his four years spell with the club.
Spanish sports daily, Marca on Tuesday reported that Luis Enrique wants to add some steel to his squad. Top of his January wishlist is Celta's Nolito, whom the Barça boss knows from his time at the club, but the Spanish striker's price tag (an 18m-euro release clause) does not fit with the club's
current transfer kitty. In line with vice-president Susana Monje's calls for "extreme caution", the club has lowered its expectations and is scouring the market for cheaper options. Possible loan signings or older players are now on the cards in order to fill the void left by Pedro following his move to Chelsea.
The club cannot afford to spend big.
With this in mind, 30-year-old Jonathan Soriano, the Austrian league's top scorer, would be willing to return to the Catalan club as more of a squad player than a first-choice striker. "If Barça came calling I'd say yes", he admitted

During the 2010/11 winter transfer window, the club brought in Afellay because he was affordable. Back in 2004/05, Albertini joined on loan, and at the beginning of 1999, Barça signed De Boer. There have been more bargain buys than big-money signings, but almost none of them have made the grade. Davids was a success, but he only stayed for six months.
