NIGERIA'S Home-Based Eagles failed to keep up with it 100% winning run as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Tunisia in their African Nations Championship (CHAN) second high profile Group C game decided Friday at the Kigali Regional Stadium.
The first half of the game ended in a stalemate as both sides played with caution and anxiety.
Coach Sunday Oliseh opted to start Chisom Chikatara following his brilliant form against the Menas on Monday.
The 'Kolanut Boy' did not disappoint as he however proved the Tunisian coach wrong that his hat-trick against Niger Republic was no fluke when he scored in the 51th minute to put Nigeria ahead.
The lead don't last up till 20 minutes as Ahmed Akaichi drew level for Tunisia in the 69th minute when he turned inside the box and scores his third goal of the championship.
Ikechukwu Ibenegbu who came in for Usman Mohammed should have killed off the game for Nigeria but his effort from close range in the 82nd minute went wide.
Nigeria who still seat top of Group C with 4points will hope that Guinea does not leapfrog them if they beat Niger Republic by 5-0, as Sily Nationale would top the group on a superior goals difference.
The development would mean that the Oliseh led Eagles must beat Guinea in their last group match on January 26th at the Umuganda Stadium, Gisenyi to stand a chance of joining host Rwanda and DR Congo in the quarter-final.
