GENERAL Manager of Shooting Stars Football Club, Rasheed Balogun has appealed to the teeming supporters of the club to exercise patience with the players and the technical adviser, Kadri Ikhana.
He made the appeal this morning on a radio programme in Ibadan against the backdrop of the club's 0/1 home loss to visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi yesterday at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.
It was a week one fixture of the 2015/16 Nigeria Professional League season. The loss was Ikhana's first since being in charge of the team three weeks ago! Ironically, Lobi Stars lost 0/3 in Ibadan last season in the week 11 which was Gbenga Ogunbote's first match shortly after the disengagement of Franklin Howard. However, the top man, Rasheed Balogun said efforts are on to stem the tide of losing every first game at home since the last three seasons.
It would be recalled that Shooting Stars lost its first home match in the week two of 2012/13 season, 0/2 to Heartland of Owerri in Ibadan before it was repeated again losing 1/2 to Heartland last season before the home crowd.
"It is more or less becoming a tradition but we are working on it and it would not happen again. It's very painful but it's still morning in the day and we shall work hard to recoup the points elsewhere in the course of the season", he adds.
Balogun further gave an indication that the club would be in the market for more good legs to beef up the team.
"We have been faced with lack of fund but we are working underneath to bring more quality players and soon our fans would see the end result.
He then put cold water on the alleged sour relationship between him and the techno adviser.
"Ikhana has been a friend before joining the club and now that he is here, we are working together to achieve success and very soon our teeming supporters all over shall have cause to laugh, we shall make them happy", he concludes.
