By Rasaq Oboirien
ENGLISH Premier League clubs, Arsenal and Manchester City have hailed Super Eagles duo of Alexander Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho after their goals saw Nigeria beat Zambia in Sunday's Russia 2018 1st leg World Cup qualifier in Ndola, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
The Gunners via one its social media handle, twitter posted on @Arsenal: "🇳🇬 Yes @alexiwobi! #BIG17 has scored his first international goal - and Nigeria lead Zambia 2-0 at half-time in their World Cup qualifier.
It's rival Citizen, "Another great day for @67Kelechi and #Nigeria! Here we recall another one... 🇳🇬 #mcfc," the tweet read on @ManCity.
Iwobi whose superb form has earned him a new £50,000 per week deal, put Nigeria ahead in the 33rd minute shooting pass an experienced  Kennedy Mweene in goal for Zambia.
Minutes before the half time break, Manchester City Kelechi iheanacho doubled the lead for Nigeria rounding off the goalkeeper and two Chipolopolo defender with a smart interchange of passes between Mikel Obi and Brown Ideye.
Veteran Chipolopolo striker, Collins Mbesuma profited from a poor piece of defending from Kenneth Omeruo to pull a goal back for the home side in the second half but despite a sustained spell of pressure. Nigeria hanged on to claim an all important three points away in Ndola.
