TANZANIA'S national football team, Taifa Stars, arrived in Turkey on Monday to start a weeklong training camp in preparation for the forthcoming 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Nigeria.
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has decided to send the team to Turkey, a nation straddling eastern Europe and western Asia, with a view to giving it the right possible preparations for Nigeria's visit on September 5.
"Taifa Stars delegation arrived safely in Kartepe district, Kocael province, in Turkey Monday afternoon ready for a week long training camp to prepare for the AFCON qualifying match with Nigeria," TFF said in a statement.
Stars delegation, which comprises 21 player and seven technical bench officials, is led by TFF Executive Committee member Ahmed Mgoyi and they are accommodated at Green Park, Kartepe Hotel.
According to TFF Media and Communication Officer Baraka Kizuguto, the Stars held their first training Monday evening. Kizuguto said upon arriving in Kartepe, Taifa Stars head coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa expressed his satisfaction with the standard of their training camp and was optimistic his players will have a good chance to train and prepare for the Nigeria game.
