WEST Ham United defender James Tomkins is relishing the chance to link up with his former England team-mate Victor Moses and feels he will be a major signing for the Club this season.
Tomkins has fond memories of playing alongside the talented Nigerian winger for the England Under-21 side and has remained good friends with the 24-year-old.
Moses completed a season-long loan move to the Hammers last week from Chelsea and hopes to establish a regular first-team place at the Boleyn Ground.
Tomkins has already joked that Moses is a nightmare to play against in training and knows the ability that he will bring to the side this season.
Tomkins said: “I know Victor Moses well fairly well from our time playing together for England.
“He was brilliant for Stoke last season and is a nightmare to mark. The lads have already seen that in training. He can be a match winner on his day and I will try and help him settle in as I know him well.
“He is a similar age to me and he wants to play games. He is playing for a massive club like Chelsea and they have offered him a new deal which shows what they think of him.
“But for him to come here and play first-team football is something he is seeking to do.
“I think it is good business for the Club and we have strengthened areas of the squad that we needed to and it was great recruitment.”
Tomkins is also looking forward to seeing Alex Song back at the Boleyn Ground and hopes he can repeat the form which saw him earn rave reviews in the first half of last season.
Tomkins added: “If we can get him playing like we did when he started here last year he was unbelievable. He comes here with massive experience and hopefully he can do the same with us.
“He knows the Club and it is a great for us that we managed to sign him. The squad is looking much bigger and stronger now.”
