SUPER Eagles’ captain Ahmed Musa has lambasted the Somhlolo National Stadium’s lighting system.
Following their tough goalless draw against Swaziland in the first leg of the 2018 Russia World Cup, Musa took nothing away from Sihlangu after they put up a captivating performance.
The CSKA Moscow winger, told Swazi Times that: “I can’t lie and say we got what we had expected but football is about challenges and that’s exactly what Swaziland gave us. I think they played very well and it as 50/50 but maybe
we also didn’t play to our best due to the small pitch and the lights are also dark,” he said.
He said the lights were of very low standard such that they struggled to see the other end when on the other.
“They were home and did brilliantly but Tuesday it won’t be 50/50. We’re going to qualify as our aim is to reach the World Cup and we’ll be in front of our own crowd then so we’ll beat them and go through,” he said.
He said in Nigeria the lights were of good standard and their rivals will tell the difference when they get there while the pitch was also bigger. Asked if he was happy with their performance or if the rivals matched them, he responded by saying ‘I can’t say I’m happy as we can do better’.
