SOUTH Africa's under-20 women’s national team, Basetsana, is back in camp for the second leg of the final round qualifier for the 2016 Papua New Guinea Fifa Women’s Under-20 World Cup match against Nigeria on Sunday at Makhulong Stadium.
Basetsana lost 2-1 to the Falconets of Nigeria just over a week ago at the National Stadium Abuja in Nigeria.
Striker Anelisa Ndyebi has been left out as she is sitting for exams in Port Elizabeth.
“We have some players in camp who are busy with exams so there is a lot of movement in and out of camp but we have to deal with it. We have devised a plan for the players to be able to focus on the two tasks at hand and so far they are coping well,” said Basetsana head coach Elisabeth Migchelsen.
“We are happy that we are back in camp and all the players are fit. We travelled with only 17 players to Nigeria for the first leg due to reasons beyond our control and we are glad that all the players are available for selection on Sunday,” added Migchelsen.
“We managed to get a crucial away goal in Nigeria, however we should not underestimate them. We know their strengths, what they are capable of but we need to focus on our own team and where we need to improve from the first leg and we are confident of getting a good result on Sunday.”
The South Africans are holding their training sessions at the Modder Sports Complex in Modderfontein.
The winner will qualify for the 2016 Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup in Papua New Guinea.
