WATFORD strike force of Super Eagles Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney will be handed bumper pay-rises to keep them at the club NaijaSportsXtra scooped from the UK's daily mirror.
The Hornets forwards have scored 20 of the club’s 24 goals so far this season after a prolific promotion campaign in the Championship last year. The Nigerian bagged his 14th goal of the season – his seventh in six games – in Monday’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham.
Captain Deeney, who provided the assist, has six goals in his last 10 games.
Ighalo’s strike means he ends 2015 on 30 league goals — more than any other player in England’s top-four divisions.
Although both Nigeria international Ighalo and Deeney signed five-year deals earlier this year, it is understood there are clauses giving them rises if, as is now expected, the club avoid relegation and they maintain their form.
The Watford squad are on tapered contracts designed to reflect the division they are in next season.
Owner Gino Pozzo, however, is well aware that a growing number of high-profile clubs are keen on Ighalo — including Serie A's Roma.
