GOLD CUP: Pillars in, COD Utd replaces Ifeanyi Ubah


KANO Pillars FC have shown interest to be part of the third edition Gold Cup Pre-Season Tournament.
Following FC Ifeanyi Ubah, withdrawal from the tournament, the organizers have replaced the Anambra Warriors with National League side, City of David Football Club of Lagos.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah had asked to be excluded from the tournament as the team is bill to travel to Europe next week as stated by top club official.
“We had been consulting with all the teams we invited, but FC Ifeanyi Ubah won't be participating because the team is traveling abroad. We understand the teams’ position and make them sure that in future tournaments we will give them the opportunity to participate,” Tunde Shamsudeen, the General Coordinator of the tourney said.
"We were unable to resist Kano Pillars, when the club chairman and Coach Babaganaru called showing interest to be part of the modest pre-season tournament."
The favourite pre-season tournament is set to begin on Thursday February 4, at the Otunba Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode.
A befitting giant trophy for the winner courtesy of Senator Dr. Abdul Fatai Buhari, as the two finalist will be entitled to a brand new set of jerseys courtesy of OWU Sportswear Venture.
