Tax Evasion: Mascherano bags one year prison sentence

ARGENTINE midfielder, Javier Mascherano has been sentenced to a year in prison for tax evasion, according to reports in Spain.
A top Spanish daily, El Mundo claim the Barcelona star’s lawyer has requested a suspension of the prison sentence and for it to be replaced with a fine.

 Mascherano has also been fined €815,000, with sources claiming a further fine of €21,000 is likely to be issued as a replacement for the prison sentence.
He admitted two counts of fraud totalling £1.1million after the defender failed to declare his earnings in 2011 and 2012 respectively.
