By Rasaq OboirienTUNISIA's Ahmed Akaichi looks set to beat Home-Based Eagles, Chisom Chikatara to claiming the African Nations Championship (CHAN) golden shoe despite the Wydad striker netting the first hat-trick of the tournament.
NaijaSportsXtra findings informed that the Etoile du Sahel striker spent less minutes scoring his four goals as against Chikatara.Akaichi scored a brace against Guinea in the 33rd and 51st minute while the 'Kolanut Boy' bagged a hat-trick Niger Republic hours later on matchday 1 as a second half substitute.
When both sides met in the second Group C game, the ex-Abia Warriors striker scored his 4th goal of the championship scoring first while Akaichi equalized for the Carthage Eagles as the game ended 1-1.
Akaichi could have gone to increase his goal tally to five goals but the resilient Malian defence denied him as they went ahead to qualify to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, the duo of Guinea's Alseny Camara and Elia Meschak of DR Congo could deny Chikatara and Akachi of the award if they score three to the two goals they have registered each.
Recall Nigeria Home-Based Eagles was eliminated from the championship after he failed to pick a point against Guinea in the last Group C game in Ravubu.
