CHELSEA boss, Guus Hiddink has told reporters that John Obi Mikel meant players must take responsibility other that having freedom, reports NaijaSportsXtra.
This clarification is coming in the wake of Tuesday’s game in the French capital, after the Nigerian said the Dutchman has given the players more freedom since his arrival, and the manager spoke in more detail about the message our midfielder had been attempting to convey with his comments.Hiddink said ahead of the Blues FA Cup 5th round clash with Manchester City at the Stamford Bridge .
‘A lot of people misunderstand because when you think of freedom you think it means I can go anywhere I like and do what I want,’ he explained.
‘I don’t like the word freedom. It’s more a feeling that in every position you have the feeling of responsibility, I hope that’s what he meant.
‘It’s about everybody doing the job they are asked to do. We prepare the team in training and meetings but the execution is theirs, with a lot of responsibility. Big players have to step up in big games.’
