Ojo targets title, Fed Cup for Sunshine Stars

By Rasaq Oboirien
SUNSHINE Stars attacking-midfielder, Ekundayo Ojo has set a Nigeria Premier League or Federations Cup silver ware target for himself at the end of the season.
The Akure Gunners who are yet to win a major trophy since their 20 years of establishment, they have come close to wining it twice.
In a chat with NaijaSportsXtra via social media (facebook) chat, Ojo spoke on other issues regarding their first home game against Akwa United, fans and his targets. Below is the chat.

NaijaSportsXtra: So, how's the club preparations for the new season?
Ojo:We are good to go, as its 3points or nothing against the Charity Cup winners.

You target for the season, after missing the continental spot last season?
My target for this season is to win either the Nigeria Premier League or the Federations Cup. Aside that, it will go along way to pacify our fans who have never looked back supporting us right from we the club became a force in the league.

Having played under five or six different coaches since joining the Akure Waves, how would you describe Coach Samson Unuannel's training methods?
It's not as difficult as thought it would be, rather we adapted quickly to his playing patterns. Moreso we are used to such training method, so there is nothing much to worry about, as he's a coach who wants results, so we must work hard to achieve it.

Your message to Akure fans ahead the game against Akwa Utd?
My message to fans out there is to come out on Sunday and cheer us to victory and we are not going to disappoint them.

Hope the League Management Company (LMC) won't ban your stadium this season?
Such will not happen this season, as I want to appeal to our fans to always see the positive in any game.

How did you feel when Enyimba denied the club a continental spot following the barren draw in Lagos?
It was a feeling I can't describe, as football is never mathematics. Though we learnt a big lesson from the game.
