COACH Samson Siasia and his assistants have retained only six Nigeria Premier League stars for the AFCON 2017 double header against Egypt, reports NaijaSportsXtra.
Nigeria host the first leg in Kaduna on March 25 while the seven times African champions host the Super Eagles in the second leg in Alexandria four days later.
The six players selected for the game are goalkeeper, Ikechukwu Ezenwa(Sunshine Stars), Kalu Orji(Rangers), Chibuzor Okonkwo(Ifeanyi Ubah FC), Etim Matthew(Rangers), Ifeanyi Matthew(Kano Pillars) and Africa U23 Cup of Nations revelation Etebo Oghenekaro.
Meanwhile, the Eagles coaches have axed Wydad Casablanca new signing Chisom Chikatara, Austin Oboroakpo and Godwin Obaje.
Recall Enyimba pair of Femi Thomas and Chima Akas will not feature against Egypt after they left the training camp to rejoin the Aba side ahead of their CAF Champions League tie in Burundi.
However, the likes of John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, Ahmed Musa and other invited foreign based players are expected to be in Kaduna latest Tuesday, March 22.
