ANTHONY Ujah has revealed why he could not stay with Werder Bremen by rejecting an offer from Chinese Super League side, Liaoning Hongyun, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
The Nigerian is set for a medical with the CSL side in the coming days after both parts agreed a deal.
Ujah in his farewell message to the club and fans said: "The decision has been very difficult for me, because I'm used to the city, the club and especially the fans whom I have won their hearts.
"However, I could not turn down. I am happy that I did my part for the club last season, I wish the club well as the new season beckons."
The CEO of the Green and Whites Frank Baumann explained that: "It was not really our intention to sell Tony because he is important to our plans for the coming season. But he gave us a hint about his intentions a few days ago that he would like to accept the offer from China.
Eventually we all managed to find a mutually agreement which ended satisfactory, so we had to have his request approved"
Ujah who joined Bremen from FC Köln in the summer of 2015 played 32 Bundesliga games scoring 11 goals.
