THE 2nd half Federation Cup quarter-final tie between seven times Nigeria Premier League champions, Enyimba and Rivers United has been abandoned.
NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com gathered after the game that the Stanley Eguma side alleged that they were attacked by supposed security men at the match venue in Ibadan.
The Aba Elephants took the lead two minutes into the game after an unmarked Samuel Chukwude capitalized on Rivers Utd school boy defending to tap into the net from Osadiaye assist.
They were awarded a penalty which Rivers United saw as controversial and protested. In the ensuing confusion the club claimed some of their players and supporters were harassed and attacked by security men present at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
Efforts to get the media officer of both teams to give a vivid account of the incident did not yield fruits as at press time.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) will before the end of the week make public who progress to meet Nasarawa United in the semi-final of the competition.
Recall the Kabir Dogo side advanced to this stage after they sent packing defending champions, Akwa United 4-3 on penalties at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium.
