Enyimba ready to sink Ikorodu Utd-Anaezemba

"IT'S not over for us until it's over, we are going to keep fighting until the end".
Enyimba's title defense is all but finished now with last weekend's defeat to Niger Tornadoes in Lokoja. It was a game that although many believe the club did not do enough to win, they certainly did not deserve to lose. Well, they did lose that game and with it threw away any realistic hope of a final title push. But with the ultimate prize beyond them, Nzube Anaezemba's quote above highlights the club's new target- the Golden Fleeces in wait for the League's runner ups.
His brace against Wikki Tourists about a week ago took his season's goalscoring tally to four. A poor return when compared to the League's top marksmen's chart but a fairly decent one for a midfielder who has battled injuries that limited his appearances this term. And looking ahead of Wednesday's game against a relegation bound Ikorodu United side, Anazemeba is confident Enyimba will take the plaudits at the end of the day.

"We are going to do well", the jersey number 4 says.
"Already Ikorodu have shown everyone that they want to go down, we want to help them sink very well" He joked. "But we want to do well and win this game especially after what happened in Lokoja last weekend. We have fans that are expecting a lot from us with the kind of season that we had so we just have to do it for the fans and get the three points today".
Their form of late suggests anything but that of a relegation bound team and they look a side unwilling to go down without a fight. After a shock 1-0 win over Heartland in Owerri, Ikorodu United followed it up with a 4-1 trashing over Kano Pillars at the weekend. While Anaezemba acknowledges the impact of that win on the confidence of the visitors, he also quickly ruled out any chances of a repeat.
"Their winning Pillars will give them more confidence to play us. How many times do you see a team lose like that in the League? It's a very good result for them but also remember that Pillars and Enyimba are not the same. We are coming all out to ensure we win it for our fans today. That's our only objective for this game".
A place among the Continent's elite has become a norm with Enyimba and the caliber of opposition in the fixtures that lie ahead, this is one of the easier ones. A third-place finish is the minimum to secure Continental engagements next season and a victory today will give that cause a healthy boost.
