"I knew I could score from the free kick as I do practice shooting from that angle.
"The technique played a part in it. I leant it from a Portuguese coach when I went for trials in Portugal and from Nnduka Ugbade too.
"Both coaches gave me the confidence and since I began taking set pieces a meter or some meters from the box, I have never failed to score.
"I hope to score more goals in the Gold Cup pre-season championship as it would boost my confidence going into the new NPL season."
Asked if he has set a goal target for himself as the new season beckons, the ex-Prime FC and Heartland striker said: "Not really as I want to put pressure on myself.
"Last season I scored just one goal. It didn't show how prolific I am at scoring goals.
"I just want to go into the new season with a goal of helping the club win a major title at the end of its campaign."
Recall Akor made headlines when his goal nailed Kano Pillars in the 2012 Federation Cup 3rd place game at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
He then went ahead to claim the championship's top scorer's award with five goals.
