NFF voted Aubameyang ahead Mahrez as 2016 Africa's best player

NIGERIA Football Federation (NFF) voted Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang ahead Riyad Mahrez for this year's African Player of the Year award, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
Statistics provided by Confederation of African Football (CAF) on how the voting for the award in the final phase took place informed that NFF been a member association gave the Gabon striker 5votes, Mahrez 4votes and Sadio Mane 3votes.
CAF recently expanded its voting system with the introduction of a media Electoral College, Technical Committee and CAF Media Committee.
Meanwhile, New Nigeria Women Professional League Independent boss, Aisha Falode  and a member of CAF Media Committee gave Aubameyang 5votes and Leicester City ace 4votes.
Veteran Nigerian sports journalist, Mitchell Obi who voted as one of the Media Experts (College 1) chose Mahrez as his best African player of the year casting 5votes for him, Mane 4votes and Aubameyang 3votes.
Riyad Mahrez claimed the African Player of the Year award collecting 361 of the votes followed by ‪last ‬year’s winner, Aubameyang 313 votes.
‪Liverpool ‬Sadio Mane finished in 3rd place with 186 votes.
