NIGER Tornadoes FC striker Ebenezer Odeyemi has appealed to their teeming supporters to be calm with the team following their 1-1 home draw against Katsina United in week 6 of the Nigeria Professional Football league played over the weekend at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja.
The former Elkanemi striker said that the team did everything to secure the three maximum points at home, but the plan did not actualize.
Odeyemi said that the Katsina match has come and gone and that what was on their mind was the Remo Stars match billed for tomorrow to holdat the Gateway Stadium, Sagamu.
"We had so many scoring opportunities we did not convert them, our opponent however took the lead and as such we put ourselves into unnecessary pressure by playing catch up game.
“Thank God we did equalize and salvaged a point out of the encounter. Therefore I want to apologize to our followers that we are not going to throw away the chances that come our way’’, he said.
According to him, personally he was not happy with himself because he had the opportunity to kill the game but somehow the balls went off target.
“Am trying to be a professional, I just have to put the Katsina game behind me, it has come and gone. We took the game lightly and full with over confidence that we will win.
“As a unit we have resolved to take on any game as if we playing in a final of any tournament, we must treat all teams equal, no more underrating’’, he said.
The former Enyimba FC and Kogi United forward added that what was on their mind now is the Remo Stars game, saying that they are in Sagamu to play football and secure maximu points.
He however said that Remo team is a solid side, full of much young talents and as such they are weary of the surprises the team can cause, but he remained optimistic that the Minna Ikon Allah landlords will leave Sagamu with songs of praise.
