Pillars zoom to Gold Cup semi-final

GOLD Cup Pre-season defending champions, Kano Pillars Football Club have booked their place in the semi-finals of the tournament.
The Sai Maisu Gida side defeated Niger Tornadoes Football Club 1-0 to secure a semi-final spot. 
A resilient team effort was required from Kano Pillars to overcome enterprising Tornadoes who gained better ball possession but were shy in front of goal
Adamu Muhammed, 31st minutes strike ensured the Sai Masu Gida side advanced to the semi final to cap a remarkable run. 
Pillars recorded 8 points from four games, while FC Ebedei garnered 7 points from same number of games. MFM have 6 points from three matches with a decisive game at hand against Tornadoes to be played on Wednesday.

Rivers Utd yet to reach desired level, says Eguma

CAF Champions League side, Rivers United have entered the third phase of their pre-season exercise ahead of the commencement of the 2016/17 football season.
The first phase commenced in Port Harcourt on November 1 with the ‘Pride of Rivers’ playing a handful of test matches against local sides while the coaches concentrated on bringing the players up to speed from a physical perspective.
On Sunday, November 20, United kicked off her second phase of pre-season in Abuja with priority put on physical work with technical manager, Stanley Eguma gradually introducing his philosophy to the new arrivals.

Baleria to NPL fans, clubs, watch out for Pillars

COACH Kabiru Baleria has cautioned other Nigeria Premier League(NPL) clubs to be wary of Kano Pillars.

The ex-Maisu Gida youth team coach told NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com at the Gold Cup pre-season tourney that:"Pillars is growing strength from strength going by the performance of the players in our pre-season camping of Lokoja and now Ijebu-Ode.

"The coming of our new Technical Adviser, Kadiri Ikhana have changed the mentality of the players who now see themselves as title contenders after they failed to win a silverware at the end of last season.

"The players we have also recruited are responding to the TA's training methods. In no time and before the season kick-off, I expect that the old and new players would have blended.

"So to our fans and other Nigeria Premier League clubs, they should watch out for a deadly Kano Pillars."

Recall, the Pyramid team finished 7th on the Nigeria Premier League log with 52points.
