Gombe Utd trash Kaduna Germans 5-0, hit Kastina Friday

 

GOMBE United rounded up their Kaduna closed camping with a 5-0 demolition of Kaduna Germans a club formed by Former and clubless Kaduna based professional.

It was a game of two halves as Emmanuel Agba scored the only goal of the first half when he opened scoring for the Savannah Scorpions in half hour mark after a good work from Ibrahim Abdullahi who fed him through and the rest is story as Agba hammered the ball on the top roof.

The second stanza of the match ABS main bowl proved to be more lively with the Manu Garba lads chucking the bulk of possession and it paid off in the 47th when Austin Oladapo's thunderbolt shot found the net to make the scoreline 2-0. 

Ten minutes later, left-back, Isaac Giwa increased the tally to three with a shot similar to that of Austin.

Suleiman Usman's header in the 74th and Franklin Matib goal in the 86th put the game beyond the reach of the Kaduna Germans and the icing put on the cake for the Savannah Scorpions who shared the spoils  with Niger Tornadoes on Tuesday.

A delighted Coach Manu Garba showered encomiums on his players for their scintillating performance after he said: "The lads are improving match after match".

 He further explained that' "Not all of you can make the 18-man squad for the league opener, those that could not make the squad will go back to Gombe to continue training for the week two encounter with Remo Stars while we proceed to Katsina".

During the ten-day closed camping, Gombe United played three friendly matches winning two and drawing one.

Meanwhile the Savannah Scorpions contingent will tomorrow (Friday) proceed to Katsina for their week one fixture against Katsina United scheduled for Sunday at the Kararkanda stadium.

MANU Garba, Gombe United's Technical Adviser says the 10 days close camping programme his team embarked on has paid off, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.

Manu said in his post-friendly match chat where he expressed his satisfaction even though his players gave room for Niger Tornadoes to play and more work would be done on marking discipline and mobility.

Recall the game at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium (ABS) main bowl ended in a barren draw.

On the closed camping, "The aim has been achieved, as the players responded well to training, there was absolute 100% concentration, no distraction what so ever and  they get absolute rest after training sessions," said the former Golden Eagles coach.

He added, "The Savannah Scorpions may likely play another friendly match on Thursday morning before the team travel to Katsina."

Recall Gombe United mauled a non-league side, Jamba Professionals 7-0 in its first pre-season game played last weekend.

Kastina United, who are Nigeria National League (NNL) Super4 champions host Gombe United on matchday one of the Nigeria Premier League.

GOMBE United have beefed up its striking options with the signing of Matibeye Ngarbe Francklin from Foullah Edifice FC of Chad, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.

Francklin, won the Chadian Premier League title with the N'Djamena based team in 2014/15 season.

He trained with the Savannah Scorpions in Kaduna, and was a delight to watch by Manu Garba and his back room staff as he scored classic goals and his pace was much for the defenders to bear.

An undisclosed source in their Kaduna camp said: "It was amazing for the Chadian as he took him less than three hours to convince Manu that he is set for the Nigeria Premier League.

"His scoring, dribbling abilities and pace was wholesome.

"The coaches had no choice than to remove an undisclosed player's name for the Chadian to be registered for the season.

"His only problem is language as he speaks both Fulani and French, so communication could be little a problem for him, but with time he would adjust and flow better with his other mates."

Meanwhile, the Savannah Scorpions Team Manager, Kwairanga is in Abuja to beat the League Management Company(LMC) date for registration of players for the new season which kicks off on 14th this month.

Gombe United will spend 10 days in Kaduna for a close camping which began on Wednesday and from there hit Kastina for their matchday one game against Nigeria National League (NNL) Super4 champions, Kastina United.

Yarma dangles #370k carrot on Gombe Utd

IN a bid to bring the best out of players and officials of Gombe United during the new Nigeria Premier League (NPL) season, Malam Farouk Yarma has dangled a #370,000 carrot on the team, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.

The Jewel of the Savannah, Youths Empowerment Commissioner and pioneer Gombe State Sports Commission (GSSC) executive boss made this known to the Scorpions before they embarked on their 10 days close camping in Kaduna on Wednesday.

Yarma who splashed a token sum of #250,000 on the players, told them that there was more goodies in the bags for the team, as he pledged financial bonuses for the squad in the course of the NPL campaign.

The team he noted will get a cash sum of #150,000 for away win, #100,000 for an away draw and #50,000 for a home win.

He further stated that the Savannah Scorpions will get #20,000 for every goal scored at home or on the road while Manu Garba (OON) and his back room staff will get #50,000 from his largesse as reward for their technical input on the team.

The astute sports administrator who is also the secretary of the club's Advisory Committee assured that he would constantly get in touch with the state's number one citizen for prompt intervention on the team, as he charged the players to be good ambassadors of the state and also win a silverware or a continental ticket.

Technical  Adviser of the team and ex-Eaglets coach, Manu Garba was full of praise for the Commissioner as he appreciated his good gesture.

He then thanked the state Governor, His Excellency Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo (Talban Gombe) for his relentless support to the club.

While in Kaduna; Gombe United will play a few friendly games, as the coaches bid to shape up the squad in readiness for the game away to Nigeria National League (NNL) Super4 champions, Kastina United.

Nikyu targets 3points against Gombe Utd

TECHNICAL Adviser to Kastina United Bala Nikyu says his priority is to win his first season game against Gombe United, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.

"It's 10 teams playing at home while the other 10 are away. The idea behind it, is for all teams to play a good game, but my target is the 3points.

On if he's got the experience to coach in the Nigeria Premier League, "Experience is not bought in the market. There are good coaches in the lower leagues, but may not have got the chance to work with clubs in the elite division.

"Mine and that of Manu Garba is different regardless the fact we were both national team coaches.

"For our fans, they have been passionate with us, following the team's progress from the pre-season matches we have played so far. I urged them to still keep the faith they have in the team.

The ex Flamingoes coach led his team to winning the just concluded Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 4 tournament in Gombe State after they beat ABS FC of Ilorin  4-2 on penalties after full time score line stood at 1-1.
