Given Yannick Sagbo’s continuing suspension, the injury
threatened to leave the Tigers short of striking options for a clash
boss Steve Bruce will have identified as a good opportunity to collect
another three vital Premier League points. However, having undergone
scans this week, sources have told the Mail City’s medical staff are
happy with the results.
It means the former Rangers man will be able to return to training next week with a view to once again leading the line against the Bluebirds. The news will come as a welcome relief to Bruce, who saw his 11th hour bid to sign West Brom striker Shane Long collapse moments before the 11pm transfer deadline on Monday night.
City are still to respond to claims from the Baggies that they were to blame for the deal falling through. The Midlands club have claimed the Tigers could not finance a deal initially agreed, before the Republic of Ireland international was flown to City’s training ground to sign.
Bruce will also cast his eye over Egyptian Gedo next week, as
he continues to recover from the foot injury picked up when helping the
Tigers towards promotion from the Championship last season. It is
believed he will need another week of recuperation before he will be
considered for selection. That means City are likely to start with
Danny Graham alongside Aluko, as they were at the Etihad Stadium.
