PRIME FC
booked a place in Federation Cup Round of 16 after a 3-2 penalties victory over
Julius Atete Football Club of Warri.
It was a
dramatic evening of FA Cup action which was decided on sudden-death penalties
as Prime goalkeeper Ayo Ojo, secured his side victory from the spot.
J. Atete
survived defeat in the full-time by scoring a late equalizer from goalkeeper,
Edafe Vincent 86th minute penalty at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.
Prime having
taken the lead through Segun Eyitayo's 20th minute strike dominated proceedings
with coordinated passes and moves from Kehinde Adebayo, Olalere Akeem, Daniel
Israel and Fatai Abdullah, to end the first half with a goal lead.
J. Atete
coach, Tajudeen Lamidi, brought on Uangbaofe Emmanuel and Julius Atete (the
club President) in an attempt to offer them further attacking impetus, but
Prime defence line marshaled by Olabisi Olagunju and Sileola Hammed, were
disciplined to curtail their fireworks.
The
substitutes produced a sublime effort to draw level from a 86th minute spot
kick to end the game 1-1.
Ayo Ojo
stole the shows after saving 3 Atete's penalties to seal victory for the
Omoluabi Giants.
Prime will
lock horn against Akwa United in the Round of 16 in a yet to be decided venue.
