Eguma shocked at Dolphins winless streak
DOLPHINS coach, Stanley Eguma says he was shocked the team went eleven games without a win.
Dolphins on Wednesday at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium beat Shooting Stars Sports Club 1-0, courtesy of a goal scored by Chiwendu Ali in the 48th minute.
The goal was a penalty after a Shooting Stars player had handled the ball in the box.
Eguma said after the game that he was shocked the team went on for so long without a win
“I thank God for the victory. It was almost becoming a surprise for us to go this far without a sin.
“We thank God we have been able to break the jinx and hope this win will be a turning point for us,” Eguma said.
Gbenga Ogunbote of Shooting Stars said after the match that he hopes the heads of his boys will put the loss behind them.
“The game has been won and lost and we hope the heads of our players won’t drop after this.
“The target given to me when I joined Shooting Stars was to ensure the team is not relegated. That is my target,” Ogunbote said.
Dolphins now depart for Makurdi where they will take on Nasarawa United on Saturday in the last match of the first round of the league.
