SUPER Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo felt the Hornets were good value for their Boxing Day point at Stamford Bridge even if there was a slight hint of regret at having not seen the game out from a winning position.
The in-form striker scored for the fifth game running, adding
to Troy Deeney's penalty to hand Watford a 2-1 lead, but
Diego Costa's second of the afternoon hauled Chelsea level."It was a difficult game but I am happy we got a point out of
here because coming to Stamford Bridge and taking a point is
very good," said Ighalo, speaking to Hornets PlayerHD.
"The team really worked hard from the start to the finish and
there's a lot of confidence building in the team, so we want
to keep going.
"We could have gone away with the three points, but sometimes
when you make mistakes you have to pay for it. We allowed
Diego Costa to run behind the defence and score, but this is
football and we want to keep going.
"The team really worked hard, from Gomes to the midfield and
to the top with me and Troy. We really gave our best and we
pushed to the last minute, so it's a deserved point for us."
There's not let up in the busy Christmas schedule for
Watford, who host Tottenham at Vicarage Road on Monday
(December 28), and Ighalo says it's just part and parcel of
plying your trade in England.
"This is England, you have to be ready for everything," he
said.
"We are playing in two days' time so I'm going to go home and
relax, get enough energy as I can get and then I'll be ready
to go again on Monday.
"It's going to be a difficult game because Spurs are a good
team and they have quality. They have been winning games too
so it's going to be difficult, but in football anything can
happen.
"Our supporters are always behind us at home, and with the
way we are playing, if we push to the end we will have a
chance to win the game."
