GOLD CUP: We're lucky against Giwa- Osuji

COACH Joachim Osuji has commended his lads after Supreme Court FC of Abuja defeated Giwa FC of Jos in the Gold Cup Pre-Season tourney in Ijebu-Ode on Friday.
A solo strike from Sammy Timothy handed the Apex Boys their first 3points of the championship.
Osuji told the press: "Not taking anything away from Giwa FC, they are a very good side as we were lucky to have won the game. I have to commend my players as their hard work and resilience paid off against our opponents from Jos.
"In the pep talk we had before the game, I told them to go and play their game as football is all about teamwork not  minding the status of the team they were going to play against."
"It was a balanced game; the result could have gone either way. Both teams had a couple of half chances but I feel the individual brilliance from the goal scorer made the difference and we defended very well too.
"I’ m not surprised that my team got the goal late in the second half as the change in team play resulted to the only goal of the game."
"I had to introduce Sammy Timothy, so we play more from the wings as they had two big central defenders that were cut-off our attack when we go on a counter."
On his next game against Nationwide League One side, Osuji said: "We came into this tourney to achieve a set goal and also to make a difference from our last season performance, we'll approach the game against FC Ebedei the same way we did against Giwa FC."
Supreme Court FC is second behind Kano Pillars who lead Group A with a superior goals difference followed by Giwa FC and the Oliseh Boys.
