Makalala eye Rio Olympic invite

By Rasaq Oboirien
VICTOR Makalala says his Lobi Stars move could help him get a Rio Olympic call-up by Coach Samson Siasia.
Recall Nigeria qualified for the men football event of the Olympics after winning the CAF U-23 Nations Cup in Senegal.
The striker told NaijaSportsXtra, "Lobi Stars is a good move for me as it will boost my chances of been invited by Siasia to play in the Olympics.
"Its every player's dream to feature for his or her country in any international tournaments, so it will be a dream come true for me if I make the trip to Rio."
The ex-Igho FC of Sapele ace also revealed that the duo of Lobi Stars boss, Mike Idoko and Coach Gowin Koko Uwa made him dump Rangers International of Enugu for the Makurdi based team.
"Players welfare is top priority by Idoko, after I got his call I had no choice than to go train with Lobi Stars.
"Also Uwa, is a coach many a player would want to play for.
"You also have an edge once you have played under him, as some Nigerian clubs will want to sign you as he is a disciplined and fitness person.
"You train with him for four to five days, I bet, you will be fully fit."
Makalala, who is just back from trials with Georgia FC of Atlanta in the United States, and once played in the Ghana Premier League in the colours of Liberty Professionals, says he also targets playing in the CAF Champions League or Confederations Cup with Lobi Stars.
