RIVERS United FC of Port-Harcourt will no longer risk the lives of its players and officials traveling by road for their away games in the Nigeria Premier League, NaijaSportsXtra can report.
The Garden City side is now the second NPL team after Lobi Stars that will now fly its squad to honour away games.
The club's spokesperson, Sammy Wejinya disclosed via social media, twitter on Friday.
"Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt will no longer travel by road for their away games in the NPFL
"The team will now fly for away games following successful talks between the sponsors and an airline operator," his tweet read.
The new development means the Stanley Eguma side will fly to Jos for their matchday 4 mid-week game on March 2nd against Giwa FC at the Rwang Pam Stadium.
Rivers United which is made up of former Dolphins and Sharks are placed 9th on the log with 3points.
