FC Ifeanyi Ubah owner, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah says he has moved on from Sunday’s defeat to Rivers United.
Goals from Chigozie Ihunda and Obomate Frederick condemned the Anambra Warriors to a 0-2 defeat at the Yakubu Gowon (former Liberation), Stadium, Port Harcourt.
Ubah will however not complain too much about the reverse and wants his charges to quickly move on from the set back.
“It is not the end of the world (that FCIU lost to United).
It is very good that (in this early stage of the season), you take some punches so that you know how to steam up.
“I am experienced as a former footballer, I know that losing to United is not a problem.
“This is our second match of the season and I know we will improve,” he said.
Ubah caused a stir by contracting more than a slew of foreign nationals to turn out for his side in the 2015/16 season but he says more is in the offing.
One of such players; the Brazilian; Williams da Silva was an unused substitute on Sunday and Ubah explained why the South American dd not amass any minutes under his belt.
“So many people came to watch the Brazilians play (on Sunday).
“Unfortunately, they didn’t play because they have yet to come to terms with the weather conditions in Nigeria.
“From the next match, you will start seeing quality entertaining football from FCIU,” the club chief said in response to a question posed by the Rivers Utd media team.
He concluded by reserving words of adulation for Rivers Utd whose win catapulted them up to third place in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) standings.
“They (United) are a highly technical team. Merging two clubs as one meant they were always going to be a very strong team.
“They are a team to watch as the league progresses.
“I thank the Port Harcourt fans and the match officials for doing a good job (on Sunday),” he said.
FCIU currently sits in 12th place in the NPFL standings with three points from two matches.
