Eagles have the quality to beat Pharaohs-Kanu

EX-Super Eagles skipper, Nwankwo Kanu has stated that Nigeria have the quality to beat Egypt, insisting that the Super Eagles should stay calm ahead of their double header with Egypt.
The two African giants are set to face each other in Nigeria on Friday, in the third round of the AFCON qualifiers. Egypt will then host the Super Eagles in the second-leg in Alexandria on March 29.
“I don’t know why people always panic each time they talk about the Egypt match. Remember, it’s Nigeria. I know things are not as good as you want them to be right now, I don’t feel any different because Nigeria remains Nigeria; anyway one looks at it,” the legendary Nigerian striker said.
The former Arsenal player believes that the victory over the Pharaohs can come through unity of purpose, players’ motivation and their focus.
“They must not allow changes in the coaching crew get into their minds. They have to remain focused and get the result for us. As a player, wearing the green-white colour of Nigeria alone is bigger than any issue,” the 39-year-old added.
Samson Siasia was appointed as the manager of the Nigerian team later in February, after the resignation of Sunday Oliseh.
Kanu said that the technical team “should remain calm and find a way to work together”. The former Nigeria captain added that Siasia should manage the players well and avoid issues that can create problems between him and the players.
“Let the spirit in camp be high and above all, they have to be positive,” the African footballer of the year in 1996 and 1999 concluded.
The Super Eagles occupy the second place in the AFCON qualifiers Group G with four points, two points away from group leaders Egypt.
