Utaka backs Siasia to beat Egypt

EX-Super Eagles winger, John Utaka reveals his thoughts about the appointment of Samson Siasia, Egypt encounter and more.
Speaking exclusively to Egyptian news source KingFut, former Ismaily star John Utaka has confirms his support for recently appointed Nigeria managerial staff.
“It’s a good choice [selection of Siasia and Amunike]. They will do very well,” Utaka told KingFut.
Siasia had picked 42 players for the national team camp, with around 20 of them playing abroad. Regarding this huge selection, Utaka had no qualms the manager did the right thing.
“I think whoever the coach picked will be more than ready for the match at hand. It is difficult say but it is up to the coach to assemble his starting 11.
Mohamed Salah has been touted as Egypt’s star man ahead of the crucial encounter against Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. It was no surprise who Utaka thought would cost most trouble for Nigeria.
“Mohamed Salah will because he is quick and very dangerous on counter attacks.
The 34-year-old then went on to say: “We have quick players in the attack as well but I think Obi Mikel will be the key to Nigeria’s play because he knows his midfield duties.
Despite choosing Salah as Egypt’s dynamo, Utaka revealed his admiration for two other players from the squad.
“Ahmed Fathy and Amr Gamal have been very impressive,” the former Portsmouth winger continued.
With Utaka having enjoyed a prolific period in Egypt with Arab Contractors and Ismaily, the player was aware of two very special Nigerians playing in the Egyptian Premier league, Zamalek’s Moruf Yusuf and Wadi Degla’s Stanley Ohawuchi.
“Yes, I do know them. They’re good players and they do have a chance to represent Nigeria,” Utaka concluded.
