ONDO State Football Agency (ODSFA) boss, Prince John Ola Mafo has restated his commitment to work with relevant associations, bodies and agencies to achieve the desired results this soccer season, reports NaijaSportsXtra.
Mafo made the assertions in a statement while playing host to the Executives of the Coaches Association of Nigeria, Ondo State Chapter led by Comrade Michael Fabomi.
Mafo while thanking the delegation for the visit stressed his readiness to take football development to the next level.
" I want to thank you for this visit and assure you of our readiness to work with you in a bid to take football development in our state to enviable heights".The former commissioner for Information, Youth Development and Sports, while condemning soccer hooliganism promised to always take measures that will promote peace at match venues.
The ODSFA chairman who promised to assist the association in the area of human development said the agency will work on how to organise periodic seminars and workshops for the coaches to improve their lots.
"At our level, we shall continue to encourage the development of our coaches by organising seminars and workshops for them.
Even though, the financial situation in the country is not encouraging, but we shall do our best".
Prince Mafo who is also the President of Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens Football Club said the agency took the hard decision of doing away with former head coach of Sunshine Stars, Samson Unuanel and Technical Director, Henry Abiodun due to unhealthy rivalry between the two men which was affecting the team's performance.
" It was very unfortunate that we took the difficult decision of disengaging the two men. We tried our best to make them have good working relationship, but no way. Personally, I intervened to settle their differences on several occasions.
Both men will always complain of job interference which did not help the team".
According to the seasoned football administrator, the agency is working hard to revive the technical committee which will be responsible for reviewing matches played by Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens with a view of enhancing performance.
"It is our intention to reconstitute the technical committee that will be made up of people from relevant sectors, so that we can always do postmortem of matches to enhance performance".
Earlier, the Chairman of the Coaches Association in Ondo State, Comrade Michael Fabomi who congratulated the ODSFA boss on his appointment commended him for his visionary leadership.
Comrade Fabomi who promised the support of the association for the ODSFA leadership stressed the need for harmonious relationship among members of the technical crew of both Sunshine Stars and Sunshine Queens.
Other members of the delegation include Mr Ade Gbangba, Wemimo Matthew, Niyi Adeolu, Tijani Ibrahim and Ayodele Clement.
