By Rasaq Oboirien
GERMAN Bundesliga side, FSV Mainz 05 has informed that Leon Balogun could link up with the Super Eagles for the crucial AFCON double header against Egypt, reports NaijaSportsXtra.
Nigeria host the 1st leg in Kaduna on March 25 while the city of Alexandria host the return leg four days later.
Checks on the German club website informed on Monday that: "Leon Balogun hasn’t linked up with the Nigeria team yet.
"The centre back sustained a thigh injury in training and will be sidelined for the upcoming days. It’s not yet known whether he will join them at a later date or remain in
Germany for the entire period. All depends on his healing process."
Even the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is hopeful that the defender could be fit for the second leg tie in Alexandria.
The Pharaoh who are seven times AFCON champions top the group on 6points after wins against Tanzania and Chad while Nigeria placed second having recorded a win against Chad and shared spoils with the Talfia Stars in Dar es Salam.
