ROTHERHAM manager, Kenny Jackett has revealed that Osaze Odemwingie joined the English Championship side to boost his chances of playing at the Russia 2018 World Cup with Nigeria's Super Eagles.
Osaze who signed a deal with the Millers until January, has been a free agent following his departure from Stoke City during the close season.
"He is looking to get playing and I am pleased that he can join us straight away," Jackett told www.themillers.co.uk
"He is up for the fight, he is up for the challenge in terms of where we are in the league and I am looking forward to working with him.
"I think he will be fine for Saturday, he has been training hard and we are really pleased with what we have seen."
Jackett, who took charge of the Millers for the first time last weekend, insists Odemwingie's desire to add to his 63 caps for Nigeria will only benefit the Millers, with the versatile forward targeting the 2018 World Cup.
"He has been close to one or two moves, but he has signed here and his aim is to work through to the World Cup in 2018, and finish his career off at the highest level he possibly can."
Osaze boasts an impressive résumé which includes spells abroad with the likes of Lille and Lokomotiv Moscow before he arrived in England in 2010.
