Akpeyi in for injured Ikeme for Algeria tie

By Rasaq Oboirien
IN swift reaction to Carl Ikeme's hip injury, Gernot Rohr has extended an invitation to South Africa's PSL goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi for next week’s 2018 FIFA World Cup game against Algeria in Uyo, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
Recall Ikeme sustained the injury during Wolverhampton 1-1 draw to Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park last weekend.
On Tuesday, the English Championship side did inform that the goalkeeper was placed on pain killers to reduce the inflammation around his hip, but from the medical report on the Nigerian, sent to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), it showed clear that the shot-stopper won't be ready on time to be in between the sticks for the game against the Desert Foxes in Uyo.
Nigeria lead Group B with 3points after the victory in Ndola against Zambia's Chipolopolo while Algeria and Cameroon are level on point each, after sharing the spoils on match day 1.
