Why Olufemi Thomas left Pillars camp-source

By Our Reporter
GOALKEEPER Olufemi Thomas left Kano Pillars pre-season in Lokoja to Rivers United camp in Abuja, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com
The Enyimba of Aba shot stopper who trained with the Maisu Gida team for two days was said to have absconded for reasons best known to him, even as he and his agent blamed Pillars management for a lack of communication.

An inside source told our reporter that:"He was invited to our camp by Kadiri Ikhana, he came and trained with us for two days, on the third day during lunch time, the CHAN Eagles second choice goalkeeper was no where to be found.
"We were shocked to hear that he's now training with Rivers United at their Abuja pre-season camp.
"I know he would want to blame it on Pillars.
"But this is Pillars, we don't run a charity organization, Nigeria players are fond of not signing a contract, rather they want it as an agreement, at the end they expect you to give them money for coming to your pre-season camp.
Another information we got from a close source to the goalkeeper gave its own side of the story, that Pillars were to blame for the development.
"They asked him to come to Lokoja, he honored Ikhana's telephone call but on and after training with the team for two days, Ikhana nor the Kano Pillars management didn't deem it fit to hint the player or his agent what the contract terms they were proposing to him looked like.
"He had no choice than to go to Abuja to go listen to Rivers United who has been on his tail immediately after the season ended.
"So it's not that Thomas absconded, he left for another contract. I mean this is transfer period and the worse happens."
Thomas who was really used by the Aba Millionaires watched from the bench as the seven times Nigeria Premier League champions went trophy less at the end of last season losing the league to Rangers, could not make it out of the CAF Champions League group stage and lost to Federation Cup runners-up, Nasarawa United in the semi-final game played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba.
