GOMBE United camp have been thrown into mourning following the news of the death of Uzama Douglas, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
The former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles defender was killed on Thursday by unknown persons in Benin City, capital of Edo State.
Savannah Scorpions Acting General Manager Media and Publicity, Tanimu Umar confirmed the report on Friday morning in a phone call chat.
"It so sad a news as it has thrown the Gombe football family into mourning.
"The cause of his death or why he was killed is still sketchy to us, but once the management gets enough details now then we make it public."
Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars of Akure have sent their condolences to the management and players of Gombe United following the death of the left back.
The Akure Gunners via their Twitter handle, @SunshineFCAkure: "Our thoughts and prayers are with Gombe United FC on the death of their defender, Douglas Uzama."
