Late Uzama's family angry with NFF, LMC, Gombe Utd

By Our Reporter
FAMILY of late Flying Eagles defender, Douglas Uzama have expressed anger at the Nigeria Football Federation, League Management Company and Gombe United, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
Three weeks after he was shot dead by robbers, not a delegation from the three football bodies have visited the Uzama's in Benin City to express their condolences.
A source close to the family disclosed, "It's this bad, not any of them have shown respect to this youngster that has served his fatherland.
"The family is not saying they should bury their son for them but show them some form of support.
"I can vividly tell you that Douglas who featured both in the Eaglets and Flying Eagles was owed a sum of Three Million Naira(#3,000,000) by the NFF in bonuses and camp allowances.
"Even the LMC and Gombe United have not met with the family to sympathize with them or discuss with the family of his burial plans.
"His body is still in the morgue, pending time the family gets over from the shock of his death to plan for his burial."
On the reports alleging late Uzama of been a cult member, our source insisted that such bad press was not meant for a calm boy whose future and that of an unnamed friend was cut short at their prime by robbers.
"How can Douglas be or associate himself with cultists. This is a young boy whose life was about family and football.
"Let me state clearly they that he and a friend were just a victim of circumstances as they were both shot dead by armed robbers. The gang after robbing persons of their valuables at the spot they were, perhaps sensed that either Uzama and his friend knew them, they then had no choice than to kill them both going by the reports we gathered from the other friends that were with them.
"So he was never a cultists. Thank God that the Police in Benin City have been able to arrest a key suspect. Investigation is still ongoing, but I'm believing that in no time the culprits will be arrested."
Late Uzama who was supposed to travel for trials to Argentina last week was shot dead on New Year eve by unknown gunmen in Benin City, capital of Edo State.
