THE League Management Company (LMC) says a total of 3.29million (Three Million Two Hundred and Ninety Thousand) fans watched last season's premier league matches at the various stadia in the country, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
Recall Rangers International of Enugu were crowned champions of the season after it broke a 32-years no title jinx while Rivers United and Wikki Tourists of Bauchi came second and third on the log.
Statistics shared by the nation's domestic football regulatory arm on its official Twitter handle @LMCNPFL on 31 December 2016 read: "#NPFLin2016 had a cumulative fans attendance of 3.29m for the entire season."
It also stated on the handle that: "No other club had a better fans cumulative attendance in #NPFLin2016 than @pillarsfc with 258,578 over."
It further informed informed that the matchday 38 fixture between Rangers vs El-Kanemi Warriors at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu (The Cathedral), had the single highest game attendance of 40,000 fans.
However, the number of fan attendance could have been more than the 3.29million figure if not for the expulsion of Giwa FC of Jos and the closed door games.
Meanwhile, the new season is expected to kick-off on January 15.
