NNL SEASON: Ikorodu Utd shuns Onikan for Abeokuta Stadium

IKORODU United management has finally adopted the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta as its home for the upcoming Nigeria National League (NNL) season as against the Onikan Waterfront, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
Recall the GoTv sponsored team were relegated from the Premier League last season after it finished 19th on the log.
An inside source disclosed:"It's 100% assurance that the team will play its NNL matches at the MKO Stadium Abeokuta, having had a good run in the city in their last four games in the topflight last season.
"The almost 20,000 capacity stadium is the one the club has sent to the NNL to come inspect. So we expect the NNL Stadium Inspectors to give it their pass mark when they visit in the first week of February as stipulated by the calendar of the second tier league.
"The team led by Belgian, Maurice Cooreman and his assistants made use of the MKO Stadium for their training sessions. They even played a tune-up game with a Lagos based non-league side last Saturday."
Ikorodu United who recently announced that its had retained 19 players from its last season squad will on February 9th-10th know its season fixtures during the Clubs Congress.
However, the 2016/2017 NNL season which will be grouped North and South with 32 teams, will Kick-off 24th/25th February, 2017.
