STEPHEN Odey became the first players to score a hat-trick this season after his Mountain of Fire Miracles Ministry FC trounced Lobi Stars of Makurdi 4-0 in a matchday 3 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
The Olukoya Boys made amends from the 4-0 loss to FC Ifeanyi Ubah on matchday2 firing its gas right from the blast of the ref's whistle.
Odey put his team in front scoring from a defensive mix-up on Lobi Stars defenders to put the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper, John Lawrence in the 27th minute.
The second half produced the best of football artistry from both teams, but it was the Ilechukwu lads that made the most of the scoring chances.
Odey gave his team a two goal cushion scoring his brace less than 10 minutes into the second half tapping into the net from another school boy defending from Lobi Stars.
It was really a bad evening for Lobi's shot stopper after Benin Republic Giscard Tchato scored MFM FC third goal.
Tchato a second half substitute had barely touched the ball twice as his low shot at goal caught the Koko Uwa backline and Lawrence napping.
As Lobi Stars press hard for a consolatory goal, MFM FC caught off the attack, then went on a counterattack, a shot from Adegboyega Adekunle was spilled by Lawrence to the path of Odey, leaving him to scored his first ever hat-trick of his career and for MFM FC of Lagos.
Lawrence who had an off day was later replaced with Odah Okeimute in the closing minutes of the game, as his defenders school boy defending made him ship in four goals.
A delighted Odey then went home with the NPFL official match ball for his heroic display against and experienced Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
