ENGLISH Premier League side, Stoke City are again being linked with Austria Vienna's Nigerian forward Olarenwaju Kayode.
There was talk of the Potters making a move for the 23-year-old Nigeria. last May, but problems acquiring a work permit for the striker seemed to have put paid to a deal.
Those work permit problems appear unresolved, but Stoke's name has come to the fore again after Austria Vienna's sporting director revealed they were in talks with teams in England and Turkey about a deal for Kayode.
Franz Wohlfahrt refused to name the teams involved, but added: "We have had inquiries from teams in England and Turkey for Kayode, but so far no offer has met our expectations. I do not believe a move will happen soon."
The former Nigeria youth international, who can play across the forward line, has been in fine form for the Europa League campaigners this season, with 14 goals to his name in all competitions to date.
He is contracted to Austria Vienna, who value him at around £1.7m, until the summer of 2019. He arrived from Israeli side Maccabi Netanya 18 months ago.
A frustrated Kayode said at the time: "There is interest for me in Germany from clubs like Wolfsburg and Schalke, but the interest from Stoke City has slowed down because I am not playing for the Super Eagles. I believe I should be given a chance by the Eagles, especially after what I have achieved with my club in Austria."
