WATER FC of Abuja Nureni Makanjuola says its target is to fish out young Nigerian talents and nature them to world class players, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.
"Nigeria is blessed with lots of young talents that are yet to be harnessed, our aim is to discover and turn them into top class players in Africa and Europe.
"That's why we kicked-off the trials in Lagos with the aim of discovering players within the age bracket of 15-24 and who are not attached to any professional clubs or academies.
"I must confess that we were very impressed with the large turn of these youngsters that came to the Agege Stadium to prove themselves to us during the two-day event that ended (Tuesday).
"I also must commend the few lucky ones who were selected as the process was purely on merit and for showing the zeal to play football at the highest level of the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and FIFA World Club Cup via Water FC.
"We plan to conduct the trial programme in the other geo-zones of the country with a view to give other talents the chance to showcase their football skills," Makanjuola stressed.
By partnering with our Qatari consortium, Water FC is consolidating its position as one of the fastest growing privately owned clubs in Nigerian discovering new players for the benefit of our national teams. This open trial will create a new line of churning out players from the nooks and cranny of the country.
The club is also looking at the possiblity of buying a slot in the Nigerian National League for next season.
The likes of Michael Babatunde of SC Qatar, Ifeanyi Ifeanyi of Akwa United, Okechukwu Gabriel of FC Karpaty Lviv in Ukraine are some of the players to have been scouted from previous screening exercises.
