Ambode signs Sports Comm, Trust Fund bill to law

EXECUTIVE Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency Akinwummi Ambode has signed the Sports Commission and Sports Trust Fund bills to law, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.

According to Ambode, the Sport Comm Bill and Sport Trust Fund were signed into law for the growth of potentials in the sport sector. 

Giving insight into the laws, Gov‪ Ambode‬ said the Sports Commission will make law that will give legal backing to the implementation of sport policies in Lagos state.

The sport trust fund will enable government to raise money for the development of sporting facilities and activities in Lagos state.

These bills will help to bridge a gap between the public and private sector

 to help in the development of the sport sector in the state.

‪Ambode‬ also reiterate his government commitment to scaling up sports dev and make the state the hub of sports in Nigeria.

The Sport Trust Fund Bill will help to generate income and revenue for the sector, says Governor Ambode.

CHARITY CUP: Rangers battle IfeanyiUbah Jan.11‬

‪THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has fixed January 11 for the Charity Cup game between league champions, Rangers International of Enugu and Federation Cup holders, FC IfeanyiUbah, reports NaijaSportsXtra.blogspot.com.‬

‪The game which will be hosted in Abuja will definitely kick-off the 2016/17 Nigeria Premier League season three days after.‬

‪Rangers who were crowned champions after a 32-year wait will fly the country's flag alongside Rivers United in the CFA Champions League while Rich-spending Anambra Warriors and third place Wikki Tourists of Bauchi will compete in the Confederations Cup.‬

‪Meanwhile, Coach Imama ‬Amakapabo has assured fans of the Flying Antelopes that he has got a team that will compete for all the silverware in the domestic league and continent.

"I'm very happy with the team I have for this coming season. We have been able to fortify the squad and I'm sure we will do well," said the Super Eagles assistant coach.

The Coal City team who have registered 25 players for the new season, will begin its campaign in the continent elite inter-club championship with an away game to Algerian club Jeunne Sportive Saoura in the preliminary round in February.

Match expenses disagreement stops Egypt, Nigeria friendly

SEVEN times African Nations Cup champions, Egypt have canceled an international friendly against Nigeria.
The Pharaohs were seeking to play the Super Eagles in January next year ahead of the continental showpiece in Gabon.
The game has been canceled due to alleged disagreement with the Nigerian authorities on match expenses.
The Egyptian FA has kicked against a proposal to foot all the expenses of the friendly and have thus arranged a similar one with North African foes Tunisia.
“It has not yet been officially confirmed but it is looking very likely that the friendly against Egypt in Dubai in January will no longer hold,” a top official informed.”
Reacting to the rumours yesterday, the NFF insisted that it is still committed to January date for the friendly match, stating that it has not been officially community by the Egypt FA.
“We have not received any message to that effect as at Sunday from the Egypt FA. I don’t know anything about that”, stated the General Secretary, Mohammed Sanusi.
