Prime place seven on transfer
PRIME FC
have let go seven of its players as they have been asked to look elsewhere to
ply their trade following a major shake off in the team ahead of the Nigeria
National League second round campaign.
The
management of the Omoluabi Giants
retained 26 players and they have been advised to justify their stay in the
club or be shown the exit door at the end of the season.
According to
a statement from the team by secretary of the club management committee, Layi
Adeshiyan, said the technical crew has informed the management of their
decision to drop the players from the team for low productivity and gross
indiscipline.
Adeshiyan,
who is the Director of Sports Osun State Ministry of Youths, Sports and Special
Needs, thanked the affected players for helping the team before now and wished
them success in their future endeavour stressing that the drop became necessary
following the ongoing restructuring in the club to cut expenses.
“The
technical crew has given us the list of players they want to work with and we
(management) have given them the free hand to operate and take a decision to
ensure they are successful at the end of the current season," Adeshiyan
said.
“We are
determined to do well this season. We took all these decisions in the best
interest of the club and in view of the task ahead as we want to cut our
expenses. The most important thing is that we have a team on ground to
prosecute any of the assignments (league and Federation Cup),” he concluded.
Prime will
on Wednesday lock horn against J. Atete FC in the Federation Cup Round of 32 at
the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja and battle against Bussdor FC of Owerri next
weekend at the Sports Complex of Federal Polytechnic, Ede.
