Ikhana hails Udoji after brace against Wikki

COACH Kadiri Ikhana has hailed the performance of club captain Chinedu Udoji after the center-back's brace earned Enyimba maximum points against Wikki Tourists.
Enyimba, in first place on the log and gunning for an unprecedented seventh league title needed to win to keep their title hopes alive on the Matchday 31 fixture and the captain provided the inspiration, scoring on either side of half-time to give The Elephants their 16th victory of the season.
Speaking to journalists after the game, Ikhana said: "Sometimes unusual things happen in a game. I think Udoji scoring is one of them so I am happy for him. He has played under several coaches without going close to the post, so I am happy."
Udoji first turned in Peter Onyekachi's cut-back 3 minutes to half-time before doubling the lead shortly after the restart from the spot, beating his former team-mate Paul Godwin, in goal for the visitors.
"Playing him in a defensive midfield role was the plan for the game and it worked well for us. He handled it well and made it even better by scoring, so I congratulate him. He doesn't score very often so I believe this will please him and motivate him to make more attempts," Ikhana stated.
Sunday's brace brings Chinedu Udoji's goal tally to 4 since joining Enyimba from FC Abuja five seasons ago.
He scored on his home debut in 2010, a 1-0 victory over Ocean Boys and in a 2-1 defeat away at Akwa United in 2012.
